This policy explains what information FreeConvertor, operated by freeconvertor.tech ("we", "us"), collects when you use freeconvertor.tech, how it is used, and the choices you have. There are two separate things to understand: the files you process with our tools, which stay on your device, and information about your visit, which is collected by analytics and advertising services like on most websites.
1. Files you process with our tools
Our PDF and image tools run in your web browser using JavaScript libraries (pdf-lib, pdf.js, the Canvas API and the Web Crypto API). When you choose a file, your browser reads it into the page's memory and processes it there. The file, its contents, its name and any password you type are not sent to our servers and we never have access to them. The results are created in your browser and saved with your browser's normal download function. Closing, reloading or resetting the page removes the files from memory.
The analytics and advertising services described below run on the same pages, but they do not receive the files you process.
2. Information collected automatically
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google LLC / Google Ireland Limited, to understand how many people visit, which pages and tools they use, and how they found us. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect information such as the pages you view, the time spent on them, the referring website, your approximate location (derived from your IP address, which Google Analytics 4 does not store), and your device, browser and operating system. We use this information only in aggregated reports to improve the site. We do not use it to identify you personally.
For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, our site tells Google Analytics by default that analytics and advertising storage are not permitted (Google Consent Mode), so these cookies are not set unless you give consent through a consent message. You can learn more in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services, and you can opt out of Google Analytics on all websites with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Advertising (Google AdSense)
To keep the tools free, we use or may use Google AdSense to show advertisements. When ads are shown:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info or, in Europe, www.youronlinechoices.eu.
- If you opt out, you will still see ads, but they will be less relevant to you (non-personalized ads may still use cookies for frequency capping, fraud prevention and aggregated reporting).
In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, personalized advertising is only used with your consent, given through a consent message that complies with the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework.
Server logs
Like every website, our hosting provider records standard technical information when your browser requests a page: IP address, date and time, the page requested, the referring page and your browser's user-agent string. These logs are used for security, troubleshooting and preventing abuse, and are kept for a limited period according to the host's retention settings.
3. Information you give us
If you contact us, our contact form opens your own email program with a prepared message — the form itself does not send or store anything. When you send the email, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and your message. We use this only to reply and keep the correspondence for as long as needed to deal with your request.
4. Cookies
The cookies used on this site are set by Google Analytics and, when ads are shown, by Google's advertising services. We do not set our own tracking cookies. See our cookie policy for a list and instructions for controlling them.
5. Legal bases (EEA and UK visitors)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on your consent for analytics and advertising cookies, and on our legitimate interests in operating and securing the website for server logs and for replying to messages you send us. You can withdraw consent at any time by changing your consent choices or clearing cookies.
6. Sharing of information
We do not sell personal information. Information collected through cookies is processed by Google as described above. We may disclose information if required by law. Aside from that, we do not share information with third parties.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information about you, to object to or restrict its processing, and to withdraw consent. California residents may opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising using the opt-out links above. Because we do not operate accounts and do not receive the files you process, we hold very little information that can be linked to you; most analytics and advertising data is held by Google and can be managed through your Google account settings. To make a request to us, email hello@freeconvertor.tech.
8. Children
FreeConvertor is a general-audience website and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Because your files are processed on your device, they are not exposed to risks on our side, but please keep your device and browser up to date and check outputs before sharing them.
10. Changes to this policy
We will update this page if our practices change — for example, if we add new services — and change the date at the top. Significant changes will be highlighted on this page.
11. Contact
